Gotcha!

Lincoln Elementary is starting a new positive behavior reinforcement program.  We are still continuing with Pride Points but adding another level called Gotcha’s.  When students are seen doing something extraordinary, students will receive what is called a Gotcha.  In addition to mailing Gotcha’s home, students who receive a Gotcha from a member of staff, will take it to the office where they will sign the Gotcha book and their names will be put into a raffle.   Names will be drawn from the raffle each week and they will be given a prize.  For example, one week the prize was eating lunch with the Principal at a special table.  Each week the prize will be different.  At times, students will receive special Gotcha’s with stamps on the back.  These students get to make a positive phone call home.

Prior to implementing the Positive Reinforcement Program, an assembly was held to inform students about the positive aspects of this program.  Teachers demonstrated to the students examples of how their behavior would have a positive impact on the school.  They also explained positive behaviors that would receive a Gotcha and pride points.  To help students take pride in their environment, the cleanest classroom is awarded a golden plunger for the day.  The Golden Plunger is a trophy symbolizing how students take pride in a clean classroom.
